Wendy Soref, Ed.M., NBCT
Founding Director of Curriculum and Instruction
She has ten years of experience as an early childhood educator and teacher leader. She began her teaching career with Teach for America in Hughes, AR and has since taught in Boston with Brooke Charter Schools and in Springfield Public Schools. She obtained her Ed.M. in Language and Literacy and her reading specialist certification at Harvard Graduate School of Education. In 2010, Wendy was selected as a TeachPlus policy fellow, which gave her a more in-depth understanding of education policy and a platform to advocate for policies that would most benefit students. At Brooke, she was the first teacher in the charter network to achieve master teacher status on the basis of three consecutive years of outstanding student growth and evidence of teacher leadership. She also piloted a hybrid role as a teacher/administrator, teaching first grade part-time and leading the kindergarten and first grade teams by coaching and evaluating teachers, leading professional development, and facilitating weekly data meetings. She has worked as a video reviewer for The New Teacher Project, providing feedback to novice teachers using an online platform and as an adjunct instructor through Boston University’s partnership with Teach for America, teaching a course on best practices in Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) to new elementary school teachers.
